It seems philosophers no less than non philosophical people each face death in their own way!

As with religion also (which makes similar claims), I prefer to take both practices as proposed, and traditional, ways of life rather than death. But I’m a pragmatist. Do they live up to their claims?

What are your thoughts on Strauss’s idea that philosophers have both on exoteric and esoteric philosophy for wider society and the political powers, on the one hand, and the inner circle, on the other — so as to avoid persecution and death?
